Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol (วัดเจดีย์ชัยมงคล ร้อยเอ็ด) Roi Et Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol, one of Thailand’s largest and most beautiful pagodas. It is the sacred place and the pride of Roi Et people and Thai people.
Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol is one of Thailand’s largest pagodas. Buddha’s relics have been collected here and it is respectful among Buddhists. The combination of central region and northeastern region art style was designed by Department of Fine Arts. The Chedi or pagoda has 6 levels inside encircled with 8 small pagodas in different directions with 101 meters wide, long, and high and located on a 101-rai of area. 60 kilograms of gold has been used for making the top of the pagoda. It is one of the significant religious places that well reflect the strong faith of northeastern people.
Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol also has the space for religious ceremonies, Luang Poo Sri Meditation Museum, 101 portraits of ancient teacher priests, and Buddha’s relics on the top of the pagoda. People from all regions can visit here to pray for fortune.
It is about 62 kilometers from Roi Et City along the Public Highway No. 2044 and 2136 takes about 1 hour to Nong Pok District. Continue driving to Baan Tha Sa Ad, Pha Nam Yoi District, and Khao Kiew for 5 kilometers and arrive at Wat Chedi Chai Mongkol where Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol is located.
