Phu Sang Waterfall

Extending over 280 square kilometers, the Phu Sang National Park also shares a 30-kilometer border with Laos. Its rich, dense forests are habitats to precious plants, such as Burmese Padauk, teak and cigar-box cedar. The park’s gentle mountain ranges such as the DoiPha Mon, are the source of many rivers, nourishing the agricultural industry in both Phayao and Chiang Rai province.

Within the park’s pristine eco-system thrives a rare and endangered species of turtle, known as Pu Lu or Siamese big-headed turtles. Their distinctive long tail and large heads have left them vulnerable to the frequent forest fires. Visitors can spot them at night near waterfalls and creeks, where crystal clear water flows throughout the year. Other natural attractions include a hot spring, enticing waterfalls, caves and limestone mountains.

The National Park provides accommodation, camping areas, as well as convenience stores for tourists.

To get there: The National Park is located 90 kilometers from Phayao Province. Take the Phayao–DokKhamtai–Chun –Chiang Kham –Thoeng Route, 6 kilometers from Amphoe Chiang Kham. Turn right into Highway No. 1093 for 17 kilometers from Chiang Kham. Prior to Phu Sang Witthayakhom School, turn right and pass the Phu Sang Minor District Office. Otherwise, travel from Chiang Rai Province –Thoeng –Chiang Kham route. The total distance is 100 kilometers along Highway No. 1021.
By bus: Take the Phayao–AmphoeChiang Kham Bus or Chiang Rai–AmphoeChiang Kham Bus and continue by mini bus, routing Chiang Kham –Ban Huak. The bus will pass the Office of the National Park along Highway No. 1093, a distance of 20 kilometers.

Admission fee is 100 bath for adults and 50 bath for children.
