Wat Phan Tao (วัดพันเตา เชียงใหม่) Chiang Mai Wat Phan Tao is an ancient temple that sits right next to the sacred Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai town. It is known for its exquisite Lanna-style ordination hall (Wihan) entirely made of teakwood, which served as a throne hall during the reign of King Mahotara Prateth. It is now where the sacred Phan Tao buddha image is enshrined.
In the important days of Buddhism such as The disciple, Visakha Puja, Asanha Puja, Loy Kratong Festival, end of Buddhist Lent etc. will be some special activity in this temple, lantern and sky lantern ceremony, however please check with the temple once before departed.
