It is believed that an act of making a pilgrimage to the Buddha’s footprint equates to appearing before the Lord himself and is considered as a great meritorious deed. Consequently, thousands of people have ventured to the peak of Khao Khitchakut, to pay respects to the footprint of the Buddha.
Khao Khitchakut national park is fertile and green. For waterfall lovers, there are three dazzling falls here called Klong Chang Se, Kra-ting and Klong Kra-sue in the middle of scenic landscape. More importantly, a large number of worshippers climb the towering mountain of Khao Khitchakut to the top in order to pay reverence to the footprint of Lord Buddha. This annual event has been held a very long time. According to religious belief, this is the ultimate way to perform good deeds and advance in determination despite difficulties.
From the starting point at Phluang temple, you have to get a four-wheel pickup that takes you on a steep eight-kilometre route. Then, you need to walk for another 1.2 kilometers. On the mountaintop, it is possible to see several geological phenomena related to Buddhist myths including the stone pagoda, the stone in an upside down monk’s alms-bowl shape, the hermit cave, Indra’s motor racing tracks, as well as gigantic stones that look like a turtle or an elephant.

บรรยากาศเขาคิชฌกูฎตอนกลางวัน ปี 2560

งานนมัสการรอยพระพุทธบาท เขาคิชฌกูฏ จังหวัดจันทบุรี ที่วันนี้เปิดให้ประชาชน พุทธศาสนิกชน นักแสวงบุญขึ้นไปกราบไหว้ ขอพร รอยพระพุทธบาทบนยอดเขาวันแรก ช่วงเช้าก่อนแปดโมงเกิดความชุลมุนวุ่นวายเนื่องจากมีประชาชนจากทั่วสารทิศมาแออัดรอขึ้นรถคิวทั้ง 3 คิวอย่างเนืองแน่น ที่ผ่านมาประชาชนที่เดินทางมาถึงสามารถขึ้นรถคิวไปบนยอดเขาได้เลย แต่ปีนี้เพื่อความปลอดภัยทางจังหวัดได้วางระเบียบและมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงแนวทางปฏิบัติหลายเรื่อง โดยรถคิวเปิดให้วิ่งเที่ยวปฐมฤกษ์เวลา 8 โมงเช้า ทำให้จำนวนคนที่มารอขึ้นเขามีมากกว่าจำนวนรถที่ให้บริการและเกิดการชุลมุนวุ่นวาย เจ้าหน้าที่ต้องทำความเข้าใจ และยืนยันว่าทุกคนที่มา จะได้ขึ้นไปบนยอดเขาไม่มีตกค้างแน่นอน
หลังจากรถเที่ยวแรกรับคนขึ้นเขาได้ ต่อมาในช่วงสาย หลังเที่ยงบรรยากาศก็กลับเข้าสู่ภาวะปกติหลังรถคิวทยอยส่งคนขึ้นเขาได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง ในปีนี้มีรถคิวที่รอบริการขึ้นเขาคิชฌกูฏทั้งสิ้น 142 คัน แบ่งเป็น 3 คิว คือที่วัดพลวง / วัดกระทิง และ หน้าที่ว่าการอำเภอเขาคิชฌกูฏ มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงให้รถวิ่งยาวจากพื้นราบไปบนยอดเขาจุดพระศิวลีไม่มีการต่อรถกลางเขาเหมือนทุกปีที่ผ่านมา อัตราค่าโดยสารเที่ยวละ 100 บาท
และปีนี้อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาคิชฌกูฏได้เก็บค่าธรรมเนียมแต่เรียกเก็บในอัตราถูก ผู้ใหญ่ 10 บาท เด็ก 5 บาท ส่วนชาวต่างชาติเสียค่าธรรมเนียม 100 บาท เด็ก 50 บาท และเปิดให้ขึ้น ลง เขาได้ตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง ส่วนผู้ที่ประสงค์จะเดินขึ้นเขาก็สามารถเดินขึ้นลงเขาได้ตามสะดวก
และในปีนี้ทางจังหวัดได้จัดระเบียบ เน้นเรื่องของความปลอดภัย และ ความสะอาด อนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ร้านค้าที่เคยแออัดขายของบนยอดเขา ยกเลิกไม่ให้มีร้านค้าทั้งสิ้น ส่วนดอกไม้โดยเฉพาะดอกดาวเรืองให้ผู้ที่ขึ้นไปกราบไหว้วางไว้ได้ที่เนินพระเมตตา ซึ่งอยู่ห่างจากรอยพระพุทธบาทประมาณ 800 เมตร ในส่วนของรอยพระพุทธบาทห้ามนำดอกไม้เข้าไปวางสักการะ เพื่อให้ประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยวได้เห็นรอยพระพุทธบาทอย่างชัดเจนและเป็นการบริหารจัดการเรื่องขยะ
ส่วนอาหารและน้ำให้นำขึ้นไปด้วยตนเองเท่าที่จำเป็นและหลังจากรับประทานเสร็จให้เก็บขยะลงมาทิ้งด้านล่าง เนื่องจากร้านอาหารด้านบนที่เคยมีถูกยกเลิกการให้บริการทั้งหมดเพื่อให้ประชาชนที่ขึ้นไปได้ชื่นชมทัศนียภาพ ธรรมชาติที่สวยงามของอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาคิชฌกูฏอย่างเต็มที่
ปีนี้จะเปิดให้ประชาชน และนักท่องเที่ยวขึ้นไปกราบไหว้ขอพรได้จนถึงวันที่ 28 มีนาคม 2560
