Thung (ธุง) is a thing to use in the ritual that people in Isan (the northeast of Thailand) make to pay respect to the Buddha or Chedi in the important Buddha Day. People in Kalasin province will make many of Thungs to pay the respect to Phra That Ya Khu, the most important and oldest Chedi in this province. They will do this twice a year in the most important Buddha Day one is the full moon of the 3rd lunar month or Makha Bucha Day and another one is the full moon of the 6th lunar month or Vesak Day, a thousand of Thungs are dazzle in front of the ancient chedi make a nice scenery for everyone who came here.
