Wat Mongkhon Khiri Khet
Wat Mongkhon Khiri Khet is situated at 21, Moo 1, Tha Song Yang subdistrict. The highlight of this temple is the body of Kruba Soi, the founder of the temple. Even though he passed away for a certain amount of time, but his body remains imperishable. Tourists can visit to the temple in order to pay homage every day. The brief biography Kruba Soi Khanti Saro is, as follows. He was born on Monday the 28th of September 1929, or the 7th day of waxing moon of the 10th month in the year of Snake, at Lahan Sai subdistrict, Nang Rong district, Buriram province. At the age of 7, he lost both of his parents, so he was in the custody of his grandmother.
When he was young, there was a time that he offered sugar to a Buddhist pilgrim who told him to enter the monkhood in the future. After he finished his 4th grade, his grandmother took him to a local temple in Chumphon to become a novice and his preceptor then was Luang Phor Man. At 22 when he ordained as a monk, his preceptor, his co-deliverer of prayer and his proclaiming teacher were Luang Phor Man, Luang Phor Suk and Luang Phor Sut respectively. He was given a monk name Khanti Saro. After the ordination, he took leave of Luang Phor Man for the meditation practice with Luang Phor Suk. Later in 1954, Kruba Soi travelled to Bangkok and resided at Wat Maha That for 7 months, before leaving Phra Ajarn Chadok to become an abbot of Wat Klang Nang Rong in Buriram. When the Buddhist Lent ended, he started a pilgrimage to other places again. One day in 1960 he felt unwell after breakfast, so he excused himself to take a rest. It turned out that his spirit left the body, but within one day he came back to life. In 1962 he decided to have a Buddhist monastery built according to the royal decree. That night when he was meditating, a guardian angel appeared to inquire him about his desire. Therefore Kruba Soi informed the angel that he would like to restore the temple. During the on-going construction, there were several reports about unexpected circumstances. The restoration completed in 1963. It can be stated that Kruba Soi has done a great loads of charitable acts to everyone around him. On the 19th of December 1998 at 7:19 am, he passed away at the age of 69. Etched in the hearts of his followers are his meritorious deeds.
