The Ananta Samagom Throne Hall is a former reception hall within Dusit Palace in Bangkok, Thailand. It now serves as a museum and is from time to time employed for certain state occasions. One year after the completion of the Amphorn Satharn Villa within the Dusit Palace in 1906, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) commissioned the construction of a reception hall to replace the one built during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV.).

The building in Italian Renaissance and Neo Classic style was commissioned to the architects Mario Tamagno and Annibale Rigotti. Marble from Carrara, Italy, and other foreign materials were used. Italian sculptor Vittorio Novi, who would later also work on the Mahaiudthit Bridge, was employed with his nephew Rudolfo Nolli.

The Throne Hall is a two storey construction with a large dome (49.5m high) in the centre, surrounded by six smaller domes. The domes and walls are covered with paintings by Professor Galileo Chini and Carlo Riguli depicting the history of the Chakri Dynasty, from the first to the sixth reign.

King Chulalongkorn died in 1910 and the building was finally completed in 1915.It was used as the headquarters of the People's Party during the four days of the 1932 Revolution (June 24-27), which transformed the country's political system from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional one. The first National People's Assembly convened on June 28, 1932 in this throne hall. After that, it was used as the Parliament House until 1974 when the new Parliament House was opened to the north.However, the old Parliament House is still used for the State Opening of

Parliament marking the first assembly in consequence of a general election for the House of Representatives.

In front of the Hall is the Royal Plaza with the equestrian statue of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).

Visiting the museum

- 75 Baht for students in uniform or with identification card.

- Children under age 5 years and less than 120 cm. are Free Entry.

- Free access for Thais on Father’s Day, December 5th Mother’s Day, August 12th and Children’s Day.

Clothing Regulations

1. Appropriate clothing is required at all times.

2. Women are required to wear appropriate length dresses or skirts. Sleeveless clothing is nott allowed.

3. Men are required to wear long pants and sleeved shirts.

Visitors must obey the following rules and regulations:

1. Food and drinks are prohibited inside the Throne Hall.

2. Photograph taking and filming are prohibited.

3. Weapons, explosive, chemical or incendiary device are strictly forbidden.

4. Animals of any kind are prohibited inside the Throne Hall.

5. Visitors are not allowed to carry handbags, briefcases or rucksacks into the museum.

6. It is strictly forbidden to touch or damage any of the exhibition objects.

7. Smoking is not allowed inside the museum.

8. Noise or disturbance is not permitted in the museum.

9. Unseemly and immoral conduct is prohibited.

10. Commercial activities are prohibited inside the museum.

11. Please keep the exhibition area clean.

12. Children must be under adult supervision at all times and are required to behave appropriately.

Announce

The Arts of the Kingdom Museum will be closed from 1 October B.E. 2560 (2017) for renovations to the Ananda Samagom Throne Hall of Dusit Palace. The Arts of the Kingdom exhibition will be moved for temporary display from February B.E. 2561 (2018) at the SUPPORT Centre, Koh Kerd, Ayudhaya Province.
